I am accustomed to working with designers, and architects, as well as creating for private
commissions. My installations are site specific, both location, as well as the clients needs are
taken into consideration during the creative process. My furnishings are all one of a kind and I
am very conscientious regarding time constraints as well as expense. I welcome all inquiries as to
commission work, both installations ,custom furnishings, and fine art mosaics.
I always require a fee before I begin a design for a project. This practice began several years
ago when I realized that clients take you more seriously when you ask for money up front. It also
protects you from spending several hours working, without compensation, on a job that falls
through for one reason or another. This insures that both you and the clients are serious about
pursuing the job in a professional manner.

When I first visit a job site, I talk with the client to see what they need and want. Based on this
information and the size of the windows, I calculate an estimate for the whole job. If the price is
agreeable, I figure a fair design fee which I get up front. I tell the clients this fee is non-refundable
but that it will be applied to the total job cost. Usually this is no problem, but sometimes the
clients feel a little uneasy about this. I explain to them that I am a professional with years of
experience and training and I will be investing a lot of time and effort in their design. I give them
the chance to look at my portfolio and come to my studio and see my work. I tell the clients I
will develop two or three concepts for them, which we will discuss and arrive at a design we are
both satisfied with. If they wish, they can contact prior customers for referrals.

The size of the design fee depends on the size of the job and the amount of time you think it will
take. I try to get as much information as I can from the clients when I first visit the site. While
they are looking through my portfolio, I take note of the windows they particularly like. It is
helpful for me to do some very rough sketches while I am there, to find out what the clients like.
Then, at the studio, it is just a matter of drawing the design to scale and laying in the colors. I
usually charge $50 to $100 to do this initial design. If I have to do research on a particular
subject or special paintings, drawings or creative projects, or if it is a very large piece, then I
charge more.
